The Germany International Cooperation GIZ through School Health and Nutrition Programme (SHN) is funding Story Workshop to promote school feeding program in over 20 districts of the country.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ),interpreted as German Society for International Cooperation, is currently supporting the Department of School Health and Nutrition (SHN) of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) in Malawi.
One of the projects at the department of SHN is the Nutrition and Access to Primary Education (NAPE), which aims at scaling up nutrition education in primary schools as well as communities in various selected districts.
The project addresses nutrition challenges that negatively affect the health and thus, the education and future lives of school children. Therefore, it targets communities, school children and teachers. GIZ is funding Story Workshop Educational Trust (SWET) supporting interventions to scale up nutrition issues in schools and communities.
The project goal is to contribute towards improvement of good health and eating of balanced and nutritious diet amongst school going children through the provision of knowledge and building of skills amongst parents.
The project has three objectives which are to create awareness and demand of SHN packages among community members who listen to Nzeru Nkudya programme, to enhancecollaboration of partners and players in the SHN programme in all SHN schools.and to advocate for diversification and production of crops that can be used as breakfast, snacks and alternative meals for school going children.
